I feel like I may have written this exact article a few months ago, promising the exact same thing, and look where that got us. (Nowhere. It got us nowhere.) Oh well, let’s try it again! According to Niantic CEO John Hanke, Pokemon GO trading and PvP battles are coming soon.
How soon is soon, though? In an interview with Vice’s Waypoint, Hanke talked about trading, PvP battling, server instability, global-scale events, a dwindling player-base, and the future of the game, among other things. You can read the full interview here.
When asked about trading and PvP specifically, Hanke had this to say: “It’s going to be done soon. It is what it is. I’ll take the massive wave of hysteria we enjoyed, and just deal with the fact that it’s caused us to take a bit longer to get the rest of the features up. We’re really happy to make our users happy.”
So, soon… We’re going to be getting trading and PvP battles soon… Hanke then went on to say that if the servers hadn’t been so “sketchy” when the game was first released, that one of these features (trading or PvP battling) would have already been added to the game.
Hanke then went on to talk about his vision for the game’s future, stating: “My heart is really with events, and that’s something I want us to solve in 2017. It’s complicated, though, to do them at the scale that Pokémon Go demands. But, to me, that would be the best demonstration of the vision of this company, which is all about playing games together, outside, with other people.”
So there you have it, folks, straight from the man himself. Pokemon GO trading and PvP battles are coming soon, and, perhaps even more exciting, Niantic seem to be focusing their efforts on events this year, which is great news for Pokemon GO players who get bored between events.
